Dosoram Hermitage in detail

Dosoram Hermitage: the 2002 restoration, finished down to the decorative painting in 32 days

Dosoram Hermitage burned down in the Jeongyu War, leaving only its site. On June 8, 2002, a monk then staying at Woljeongsa Temple on Odaesan Mountain (now the head monk) rebuilt it. He finished even the decorative painting in 32 days. In the short construction period, many people carried 1,800 clay roof tiles up by hand. The completion ceremony was held in 2006.

Dosoram Hermitage: the hermitage where Venerable Uijo practiced, and Yongdam Spring

This is where Venerable Uijo, who founded Mihwangsa Temple on Dalmasan Mountain, practiced before building Mihwangsa Temple. About 50 m below the hermitage is Yongdam Spring, which never runs dry all year. A story tells of a dragon that rose to the sky from it.

Dosoram Hermitage: filming location of 'Chuno' and 'Gaksital'

Because of its fine scenery, the dramas 'Chuno', 'Gaksital' and 'My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho', as well as several commercials, were filmed here. The hermitage is surrounded by rocky ridges, so many photographers also come to capture its scenery in each season.
