Memorial Gate for Lady Im of Naju in Hyeonsan-myeon, Haenam, a memorial gate built on Royal Inspector Seong Su-muk's report

The memorial gate stands in the middle of Dumo Village and honors the filial devotion and fidelity of Lady Im of Naju, the wife of Kim Cheol-san. Lady Im's parents' home was in Wonpo, Gogun-myeon, Jindo. Royal Inspector Seong Su-muk sent a report to the court that led to the gate being built, and he had Lady Im entered in the Samgangnok. The family record '孝烈林氏旅閣實記' says it was rebuilt in the 3rd year of King Gojong (1866). It has been repaired several times since and is preserved to this day.

Lady Im of Naju married at fifteen, and after her husband died young of illness, she cared for her blind father-in-law. She went to her parents' home on news that they were gravely ill, but it was a false message made up to have her remarry. When her family called in young men to hold her there, she tried to throw herself into the sea. A legend says that a dog then appeared, carried her on its back across the sea and brought her to her in-laws' home. Lady Im cared for her father-in-law all her life and kept her fidelity.
