Yun Seon-do Historic Site in Geumswaedong in detail
Yun Seon-do Historic Site in Geumswaedong: a mountaintop garden named after a dream
The name Geumswaedong comes from 1640, when Yun Seon-do, then 54, obtained a 'golden-locked stone chest' in a dream and, a few days later, found a place that matched the dream exactly. The top of the mountain is shaped like a basin. Gosan made it his retreat and laid out a garden with ponds and pavilions. Within the site are also Gosan's memorial hall and Yun Seon-do's tomb.
Yun Seon-do Historic Site in Geumswaedong: the 22 scenes of Geumswaedonggi and records designated as a Treasure
Gosan wrote Sanjung Singok and Geumswaedonggi here. In Geumswaedonggi he named 22 scenic spots and sang of them. Those place names continue across the area northeast of the fortress. Geumswaedonggi, Geumswaedong Jipgo, Sanjung Singok and other works are designated Treasure No. 482.
