Yi Han-bong Old House in detail

Yi Han-bong Old House, a 1904 traditional Korean house moved from Baekpo Village

When the house was built in 1904 (the gapjin year), it stood in Baekpo Village, Hyeonsan-myeon. Yi Han-bong bought the house and moved it to its current site in Bokpyeong-ri, Haenam-eup, in the 1960s. It was designated as Local Cultural Heritage No. 36 on January 4, 2019.

Yi Han-bong Old House, a 6-bay front, a hip-and-gable roof, and modern high windows

The building is 6 kan wide at the front and 2 kan deep at the side, with a hip-and-gable roof and a floor area of 105.7 m². At the front, round pillars stand on dressed foundation stones. The high windows above the two-leaf lattice doors carry patterns or glass, a feature of modern-period traditional Korean houses.
