Korea Trail (Former Samnam-gil) - Haenam to Seoul Walking Course in detail
Korea Trail: Samnam-gil from Ttangkkeut to Namdaemun Gate in Seoul
Samnam-gil, the former name of the Korea Trail, follows Honam Grand Road, the longest of the ten main roads of the Joseon period, linking Ttangkkeut Village to Namdaemun Gate in Seoul over 1,000 ri. It passes Gangjin, Yeongam, Naju, Gwangju and Jangseong; Jeongeup, Wanju and Iksan in Jeonbuk; Nonsan, Gongju and Cheonan in Chungnam; and Pyeongtaek, Suwon and Namtaeryeong Pass in Gyeonggi before reaching Seoul. Signs with three arrows (>>>) mark Samnam-gil: orange points toward Ttangkkeut and green toward Seoul.
Korea Trail, a cedar forest path and a two-way coastal route for high tide
Olmang-gil revives old paths between villages, such as routes to school, that were used until 30–40 years ago but disappeared once everyone began to travel by road. On the old path between Sagu Village and Yeongjeon Village, there is a cedar forest about 200 m long. Haedeul-gil splits into a coastal path and a farm-road path to allow for high tide, and it runs along a shore of mudflats, silver grass, and reeds, facing Wando. After Nadeul-gil you can no longer see the sea, so this section links coastal roads and farm roads to keep you walking beside the sea.
