Janggobong Ancient Tomb in Bangsan-ri, Haenam, a tomb square at the front and round at the back
Janggobong Tomb is east of the mountain fortress that rings the top of Seongmasan Mountain. Its mound is as large as a natural hill and has a keyhole shape, square in front and round at the back. Because of its size, some see it as a natural hill rather than a tomb, but based on its shape many scholars regard it as an ancient tomb.
Janggobong Ancient Tomb in Bangsan-ri, Haenam: the summit-ringing fortress on Seongmasan Mountain and the tombs around it
Seongmasan Mountain is 80 m high, and a summit-ringing fortress 300 m around was built along the slope at 60 m above sea level. On the hill north of the fortress is a square stone-covered mound with rough stones 15–20 cm in size packed closely into its surface, and a stone chamber tomb is exposed to the south. Around it are 6 tombs of the Yongil-ri group, 7 of the Yeongol group in Bangsan-ri, and 2 Doksuribong tombs, showing that the area around the fortress was a burial ground.
